Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) has moved Fredrik Jejdling, Head of its India region to Sub-Saharan Africa region in the capacity of Head Of Region. He will replace Lars Linden in Sub-Saharan region.
"Fredrik Jejdling is appointed Head of Region Sub-Saharan Africa. Jejdling will remain a member of the Global Leadership Team (GLT). Fredrik is currently Head of Region India, a successor to Fredrik in his current role will be announced separately," Ericsson said in a media statement.
Jejdling took over Ericsson's India region in the not-so-pleasant circumstances in June 2011. About six months after joining the industry witnessed the cancellation of 122 licenses which led to a lot of confusion and chaos in the industry. Poor 3G uptake, dwindling ARPU's of operators further added to the misery of the industry.
Under Jejdling leadership, Ericsson successfully managed to retain its strong position as the partner of choice for operators and deployed 40 percent of the 3G networks.
The company says the experience in the India market will help Fredrik to further develop Ericsson's offering and support to the Sub-Saharan Africa region, which is also growing and facing similar set of challenges.
Jejdling spoke at length with Light Reading India a number of times during his tenure. Read about them here:
