The Columbia County School System has lost a staple in the education community. Robert "Buddy? Hendry,?chief of Columbia County Schools died?Saturday. He was in his 60?s.
Columbia County School Board Chair Regina Buccafusco tells?WJBF News Channel 6?that Hendry had been sick with lung cancer. He was one of the original public safety officers to be hired by the school system, working at Harlem High during the beginning of his career.?
Before that, he was with the Florida State Patrol for more than 20 years. Visitation will be tomorrow at Platt?s Funeral Home on North Belair Road in Evans from 6 until 8 p.m.
